The Pale Girls Guide to Glowing Skin

For pale skin beauties, winter can be one of the toughest months. Exposure to the sun and dry indoor heating means your skin needs to stay nourished and healthy. But it can be tough to get glowing healthy skin that doesn’t look caked on or leave you looking orange.

If you’re struggling to get a healthy glow from your pale skin, check out our top tips below.

Stay Away From Powder Foundation

It’s easy for your makeup to look caked on when you have a fair skin tone.  Try sticking to tinted moisturizers and liquid foundations that can be dabbed over trouble spots for a nice light look that feels great on your skin.

Choose A Primer That Can Protect You

Pale skin is less prone to discoloration, but it does make us more prone to sun damage. Choose a primer and liquid foundation with an SPF of at least 15. It's important to remember, however, while SPF in your beauty products can be helpful, it is never a replacement for sunscreen.

Go With Cool Tones

It sounds contradictory, right? Obviously, you want a healthy glow to those pale cheeks, you’re going to want to go with warmer tones. But get too far into warm tones, and that alabaster skin just looks orange and fake. Particularly during the winter months, opt for a cooler tone bronzer when you’re contouring, or mix a bit of bronzing tint into your moisturizer for a two-in-one effect that nourishes your skin while giving you a healthy glow.

Don't be Shy and Reapply

Sunscreen is essential for anyone with skin but for fair skin, it takes an even higher priority. Fair skin not only sunburns easier but is also far more likely to develop melanoma. If you have skin type I or II don't be shy with your sunscreen application. You want to use at least a nickel sized-amount for applying to the face alone. Just as importantly, reapply at least every two hours for effective protection. Sunscreen mists like ZINC IT OVER make it easy to reapply throughout the day.

Get Your Vitamins… In Your Skin

Choose natural skin care products heavy in vitamin C to brighten pale skin when it looks dull. Milk and honey also help give you a glow while being gentle on sensitive skin types. Aloe Vera and other natural skin ingredients can also keep your skin healthy. Your diet impacts your skin as well, so make sure to eat plenty of healthy fats, and Vitamins A, C, and D.

Resist The Urge To Tan

While it's almost impossible to avoid the sun completely you definitely need to stay away from tanning beds. As we’ve already discussed, pale skin is more susceptible to sun damage. Harmful UV rays are present in tanning beds, as well, and in an even more concentrated dose. Instead, choose a light, liquid bronzer to give your skin a healthy glow!

Remember, pale skin (and any other skin type) is still prone to sun damage in the winter months. It can be tough to find products that work for your skin, especially ones that give you a gorgeous, healthy glow. Prioritizing these tips will help you look and feel great, while keeping your skin healthy and glowing.
